Teachers as Learners
At Raya, we champion teachers as lifelong learners. Our PD workshops offer transformative experiences, helping educators develop skills and stay updated with education's latest trends, empowering them to evolve into teacherpreneurs.
On May 11th, we launched our inaugural professional development series by Professor Sugata Mitra, an educational pioneer. His groundbreaking work, including "The Hole in the Wall" project, has inspired millions and influenced the Oscar-winning film "Slumdog Millionaire." The session introduced our educators to Self-Organized Learning Environments (SOLEs) and the role of generative AI in education.
Embracing the empowerment of teachers, Raya extended the invitation to educators from other schools, fostering collaboration and enabling their growth.
Our Primary Years Programme (PYP) library was inaugurated by Professor Sugata Mitra. The library exemplifies our commitment to lifelong learning, offering a space for private reading, individual study, and exploration for our learners, as well as professional development for our teachers. This library, housing over 2,000 curated books, is designed to support inquiry-based learning and foster a love for reading among students. It serves as a dynamic space for exploration, collaboration, and learning. The team is curating more books for our young learners in the coming months. The entire space is decked up, and we look forward to inviting our young learners.
The Street Store
Living Our Mission Through Kindness
At The School of Raya, we believe in cultivating conscious, confident, and creative global citizens who take responsibility for the world they share. Our partnership with The Street Store brought this mission to life, empowering Rayots to make a meaningful impact while addressing United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
Through a heartfelt collection drive, students and parents donated gently used clothing, toys, and books – all carefully prepared and sorted. These items were displayed at a pop-up store, allowing individuals in need the dignity of choosing essentials for themselves and their families.
This initiative embodied the IB values of caring and principled action, teaching Rayots the importance of mindful consumption and the joy of sharing. By extending the life of everyday items, they not only reduced waste but also strengthened their commitment to sustainability and empathy.
Through their efforts, our Rayots demonstrated The School of Raya’s mission in action – taking responsibility, showing compassion, and making a positive impact on the world they share.
