Building a learning space for
today and tomorrow.

Raya is an Eco-School, where sustainable architecture intertwines
seamlessly with the learning environment. Our structures stand as beacons
of ecological responsibility, weaving a narrative of innovation and purpose.

Material Selection

The architects and designers behind Raya have been
meticulous in selecting materials prioritising eco-
friendly options like recycled wood, bamboo, and
reclaimed materials — ensuring durability and
embracing a plastic-free ethos.

Designed for Durability and Longevity

From robust fixtures to long-lasting furniture crafted
from recycled or sustainable materials, our design
ethos minimises the need for disposable items,
promoting a greener, enduring environment.

Innovative Construction Techniques

We embrace cutting-edge construction methods, like
modular design and prefabrication. These techniques
not only minimise waste but also diminish dependence
on plastic materials, aligning with eco-friendly
practices and resource efficiency.

Plastic-Free Campus

We've banished single-use plastics from our campus –
no bottles, no food packaging, no banners. Our
commitment to sustainability goes beyond
restrictions; we use biodegradable materials, practice
waste segregation, and educate for impact.

Our Energy &
Environmental Policies

FAQ

Our energy policies echo our commitment to shaping the school's eco-conscious landscape. We channel energy into a sustainable rhythm.

Our buildings are choreographed to shimmer with natural light. Large windows, skylights and open spaces invite daylight, reducing the need for artificial illumination. Prioritising natural ventilation minimises dependence on air conditioning.

Our eco-friendly sewage treatment plant transforms waste into power for irrigating the campus. A semi-automated drip irrigation sustains our greenery, complementing our commitment to renewable energy. The Sports Complex roof is engineered for potential solar panels, aiming to cover the energy demand of the entire campus.

Our design focuses on efficiency, incorporating modern systems like efficient HVAC, LED lighting, and energy-star-rated appliances. We're vigilant, educating students about responsible energy use.

Sustainability is more than a practice; it's a lesson. We infuse our curriculum with the importance of energy conservation and sustainability. These themes echo in school activities, fostering an environmentally conscious mindset among students.

A commitment to sustainability means staying accountable. Regular energy audits identify areas for improvement, and we continually strive to enhance efficiency, reducing our ecological footprint.

Through purposeful rainwater recharge pits, we capture and store rain during monsoons, allowing it to slowly percolate into the ground, replenishing groundwater. This intentional process not only conserves water but also reduces reliance on external water supplies.
The harvested rainwater serves multiple purposes, from sustaining greenery to minimising surface runoff, aligning with our broader energy policy for efficient natural resource use. This system encapsulates our dedication to environmental stewardship, making every drop a symbol of our commitment to a sustainable future.

Our water treatment plant caters to the water needs of 1000 students and staff. Adhering to national building code standards, the facility incorporates advanced water treatment technologies like Water Softeners and Ultrafiltration. It boasts a capacity of 108KLD, designed for scalability to meet future demands. Resource optimisation is achieved through greywater recycling for non-potable uses, reducing strain on freshwater resources.
The plant prioritises energy efficiency, exploring renewable sources, and complying with our commitment to environmental responsibility. It serves not only as a water provider but also as an educational hub, fostering awareness and responsibility for sustainable water usage. Robust monitoring and maintenance ensure uninterrupted access to clean water.

Our 50KLD eco-friendly sewage treatment plant stands as a testament to our commitment to environmental responsibility. Employing eco-friendly methods such as biological treatments and membrane filtration, the plant transforms sewage water into a valuable resource.

By treating water on-site, the system minimises environmental impact by preventing the discharge of untreated wastewater into natural water bodies. This approach helps prevent pollution and safeguards local ecosystems.

One remarkable aspect of our plant is its capacity to treat 50,000 litres of sewage water daily, converting a potential pollutant into a sustainable resource. The treated water, meeting stringent quality standards, is channelled through a network of pipelines to irrigate the school's vast green spaces, gardens, and playing fields.

Implementing an eco-friendly STP may require an initial investment, but in the long run, it reduces the school's dependence on external water sources for irrigation, cutting down operational costs.

The presence of such a sustainable sewage treatment and reuse system within the school premises presents an educational opportunity. Students can learn about the importance of water conservation, sustainable practices, and environmental stewardship firsthand.

Such initiatives set a positive example for the community by showcasing sustainable practices in action. This could inspire others to adopt similar eco-friendly measures, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable resource management.
